On your notion of what happens to motorcars towards the end of models life is the opposite. There is cost cutting done throughout the models life, where suppliers are requested to cost cut a certain percentage every year and also some features of the car taken away for cost cutting purposes and not they perfect the model towards the end of it's life. A new model of car is developed for four years prior to it's launch and this involves supplier component testing and test tracking testing, but manufacturers are trying to reduce that test track development period with better simulated testing methods and machinery.

The camera is about 20 years old. I doubt you're going to find one without any wear on it.

All things being equal with your artistic eye, how happy would the typical couple be with wedding photos taken with f/4 lenses on a camera with such comparatively limited ISO performance in 2024? Still good enough, or are couples fixated on a razor-thin depth of field in the portraits and the ability to shoot into the evening at reception and provide clean files, with a more modern (and much, much more expensive) setup? I'd be interested in your thoughts, thanks.

Have you actually used the RF version? How can you do a comparison without any tests? I agree with that the internal zoom is nicer to use: Very fast and can be done with one finger. However you have not mentioned all the advantages of the new lens, such as the size and weight. The EF lens also requires the adapter to use on a mirrorless body and adds even more weight and affects the balance. The RF lens autofocs is faster and the tracking is better. The image quality is only sligthly better than the version II EF lens, but lags behind the original EF version "compared" here. On the whole this is a very unbalanced review.

I’m just getting into/back into photography. Bought an R6 body and now considering options to cover this focal range. I have the adapter, so can choose from both EF and RF mount lenses. Debating between the EF v.2 ($600 used) and RF ($950 used) versions of this lens as well as the RF 24-240 ($900 new). I like the 24-240 as a one lens solution for travel and variety of shooting, but not crazy about the aperture range. Eventually I see myself owning both the 24-240 and one of the 24-105 lenses, but for now can only do one. I do like the idea of the EF and using the $ saved to buy another lens, but also like some things about the RF, including not having to use the adapter. Any thoughts on which way you would recommend for a relative newbie who wants to get out and learn?

I've just had it happen to me now, and my serial number begins with a 21 but my example of the 5D is in pretty good shape and looks like it has always been a spare/second camera to somebody. I now own it for about 6 weeks and have made over 10k+ photo's already(nothing noteworthy tho, just to explore the camera by trial & error). I never had so much fun with a camera before, I absolutely love the output that it gives and will absolutely never sell it.

Nice! I myself have the nx1000, but that tilting screen on the nx3000 looks very handy. With an adapter, you can mount all sorts of vintage glass to your nx. Great fun 📷😃

I'm loving my 5D! Not sure why but I really expected the monochrome output to be garbage even though I knew what it was capable of with colour.. But apparently Canon knew what they were doing with the mono output too 😅

You are using different versions of the lens and expect same result? And also you are using the Adobe Profile which is junk. I've moved away from LIghtroom and back to Canon's DPP4 a few years ago. DPP4 has way superior color, sharpness and noise reduction.

Richard I'm certainly no pro, wouldn't consider myself to be very knowledgeable about digital cameras at all. What I am wondering is that, given the widely acknowledged low DR and relatively poor iso performance of the 5D, why don't you ever dip into the base iso of the camera when you can? Do you not get any advantage with that increase in DR and lower noise? This isn't a snide or rhetorical question by the way, I believe you do everything for a reason but I'm wondering if you can elaborate on that point a little for me! Thanks for these absolutely fantastic vids. I'm waiting for my 5D to arrive in the mail (Feb 2024 and I've still never seen jpegs that looks so tasty). It will accompany my 1D classic which gives very pretty images and is from 2001 I believe. David

I have just bought the 5D mki. It was an impulse buy, as I was looking to get a mk ii Then I watched a video by another RUclipsr, and on the strength of that one video I bought the most expensive mk I on MPB at an eye watering £159! The camera arrived last week, and I spent a couple of hours walking around Old Leigh in Essex. I absolutely love this camera, it’s so simple to use. I set the aperture at 5.6 with the ISO set at 800, for that film grain look. I added a red filter in the settings for monochrome. I could just switch from neutral to monochrome with just a couple button pushes and a turn of the wheel. All the images straight out of the camera were fantastic. I don’t use Lightroom or anything similar. I like the feel of it as well, it’s heavy and well made. This now my oldest and main camera to use now.

Hi Richard, I have just acquired a mint one with the serial number starting with 27. Mine does not have those reinforced bars on the mirror. Did Canon stop adding the reinforced bars on the later models? Many thanks.

One question . it supposed that this Camera shoot together RAW + JPEG but i dont see that option. Or only raw or only JPEG

Exposure compensation is set by default on the down button. Unfortunately, this only works in P, A & S modes. When I use the button in Manual mode., it switches between Av and Tv setting. Any idea how to change this button to open exposure compensation in M mode?

Just bought this camera and the flash option in the menu is greyed out in manual and all modes. The flash button on the wheel doesn’t work either

Hello, I have Sunpak DF4000 attached to the Canon T7. When I take picture, the flash is triggered; however, I am not getting light on the image capture. Does anyone here know what is the issue? Please help. Thank you.
